"Are You Centered?" Takes on a Whole New Meaning in Lake & Sumter Counties

PALS Transforms into 441 Center

LEESBURG - Efforts to bring a community center large enough to accommodate both Lake & Sumter Counties have taken on a whole new dynamic as plans for the next phase of development come to life. Renewed plans for the 441 Center, a 2,000-seat multi-purpose event space that is centrally located on the main campus of Lake-Sumter Community College, were unveiled recently to a delighted audience of community members.

441 Center will serve as a major force to bring economic prosperity to our surrounding businesses and communities. Construction of the facility is expected to generate more than 250 jobs and upon completion will provide an ongoing boost to the local economy. 441 Center will be large enough to support diverse venues for both Lake and Sumter communities, driving dollars into local businesses. According to results from a study executed by leading Central Florida economist, Dr. Hank Fishkind, “441 Center is projected to produce 7 million dollars in annual revenue for the businesses in Lake County and surrounding communities.”

The facility is uniquely designed to house a wide array of educational opportunities for all – kids, college students, anyone interested in learning something new – it will be a place for the community to meet and gather for an endless array of diverse activities and functions. Area residents, visitors and community leaders will find the uses for the space virtually without end in conjunction with it being a convenient place to continue lifelong learning. Students, from elementary through college age and beyond, will benefit from the myriad of educational offerings that 441 Center can bring.

The facility is designed with state-of-the-art function in mind to properly house a wide variety of cultural enrichment events such as stage plays, political forums, poetry readings, rehearsal hall space, fundraisers and concerts from every genre. Additionally, the many meeting rooms are perfect for conducting business expositions, seminars and local chapter meetings for any community group. A variety of upcoming activities are planned for the 441 Center property beginning later this summer. 441 Center will be located on the Leesburg campus of Lake-Sumter Community College. It will be a central gathering place vital to fostering economic, educational and cultural opportunities in our community.
